A circlip, also called a C-clip, Rotor Clip, or snap ring, is a fastener or retaining ring made of a semi-flexible metal ring with open ends. It can be snapped into a machined groove on a dowel pin or another part to allow rotation while preventing axial movement. There are two main types of circlips: internal and external, depending on whether they are fitted into a bore or placed over a shaft. Circlips are commonly used to secure pinned connections. They are available in various sizes to suit different applications.
